in these vehicles you are able to shift into 4h(only) up to 60 mph, you should be able to shift between 2h and 4h on the fly while driving.check all the fluids, engine oil, trans oil, etc.
and shift into 4h while driving to make sure the super select system is functioning properly. also make sure there isn't any smoke coming from the exhaust.have someone else rev the engine and check the exhaust for smoke and have someone follow you while you drive the car around to check for smoke as these cars are prone to oil leaks coming from the valve stem seals also check the 4 wheel drive system by shifting it into all the different positions and make sure the lights indicating which wheels the power is going to work etc. Just bought an 1994 SR with the rear locker myself.I overpaid for mine though as I didn't check the car well enough.just be sure to check the entire under side of the car and not just the engine bay for oil leaks damage etc.
